Howth is just a short train ride away from Dublin City. It is an active center of the fishing industry; hence, my main reason for visiting-- seafood cravings.

Howth Harbor
There are loads of seafood restaurants lining the road, on your way to the pier, so it's all a matter of preference really. Locals do birdwatching and sailing around these parts, and it is also quite popular with Anglers. If you're lucky, you might even spot a seal or two, lounging between rocks.

For a bit of exercise, you can do the Cliff-path Loop (2 hours, 6-km), which is easy enough; or, if you have more time (and energy) in your hands, you can do the Cliff-walk, all the way to Red Rock in Sutton. I haven't done the cliff-walk to Sutton, but I have done the cliff-path, so I can recommend the latter.

How easy is the Cliff-path? Let's just say that I've walked past parents with toddlers and pre-teens, walking along easily. Just remember to always put safety first.
