Around The World in Three Friggin Hours

Merry Christmas!
It's one of those unplanned-trip things. Well... what do you expect from an expat living in Dubai without my family in-sight? And it's Christmas, nonetheless! I'm just lucky, Dubai is very open when it comes to other religions. It is still predominantly Islam, but the place has certainly embraced its status as an international hub.
The Global Village is, most definitely, a testament to that.
Around the world in 3 hours!
General Admission is priced at 15 AED/head. Your feet will never forgive you after this experience. It's location is VERY far from the city center, and there are no trains that you can ride to reach the area. Dubai Metro trains can only transport you as far as Rashidiya station (end of Red Line), but from there, you would have to take a cab.
For bus takers, the RTA (Road and Transport Authority) has set up two routes: 103 in Union Station (Red Line), and 104 in Al Ghubaiba Station (Green Line). Service starts at 3:15pm until 11:15pm, and estimated travel time is thirty minutes.
We live near the area, so we simply took a cab. It still costs us around 40 AED, and we live near the area already.
To sum it up, here are the activities that you can do in Global Village:
- Take pictures. Lots and lots of pictures.
- Arcades. Games.
- Eat. There's an abundance of restaurants from all walks of life.
- Rides. I love the ferris wheel, and the slingshot ride.
- Shop. Shop and shop 'til you drop.
- Watch fireworks. Stage shows. Concerts. Stunt/Cultural Shows. Street shows.
- Enjoy!
Important: opening of Global Village is seasonal, and it usually starts during the start of winter months, because no one wants to walk around during summer. Trust me. You WON'T.
